Darren has over 18 years experience both within New Zealand and the UK. He has worked for ICI, British Gas and was seconded as an environmental consultant to GlaxoSmithKline and British Airways for over two and half years. Within New Zealand he has worked in the timber treatment industry and for 2 regional councils.
For the past ten years he has worked for Environment Canterbury providing advice and guidance on the management of waste and hazardous substances within the Canterbury Region.
He was responsible for developing and managing the implementation of the Canterbury Hazardous Waste Management Strategy, the regional agrichemical collection and the Pollution Prevention Programme.
Darren’s approach is to come up with pragmatic solutions that get results.
He is a board member of WasteMINZ and has been the chair of the Liquid and Hazardous Waste Sector Group for the past 7 years. He is also a representative on the Liquid and Hazardous Waste Certification Council and has been a board member of the Agrecovery Foundation.
